03 Knowledge

Compounding, in three pictures.

1

Idle money quietly shrinks

At 6% inflation, ₹1 lakh kept in cash buys only about ₹55,839 worth of today's goods after 10 years, and about ₹31,180 after 20. The number stays the same while its buying power falls.

2

Steady returns keep pace

At an assumed 7% a year, the same ₹1 lakh becomes about ₹3,86,968 in 20 years before tax. That comfortably beats idle cash and is right for money you need soon or cannot risk.

3

Time is the real multiplier

At an assumed 12% a year, it could grow to about ₹9,64,629. Look at the curve: most of the growth arrives in the last few years. Long-term equity investing rewards patience, but returns swing year to year and are never guaranteed.

Try your own numbers

Many funds accept a SIP from ₹500 a month

Small. Regular. Early. Three words behind most family fortunes.

04 The rule of 72

How fast does money double? Divide 72 by the rate.

₹1 lakh left alone for 24 years. Each coin below is ₹1 lakh of value at the end. Same money, same patience, very different outcomes.

4%

Savings account

Around 4% a year

Doubles in about
18 years
After 24 years
₹2,56,330

7%

Fixed deposit or debt fund

Around 7% a year

After 24 years

12%

Equity mutual fund

Assumed 12% a year, not guaranteed

Doubles in about

Rule of 72 is a quick approximation. Values are before tax and inflation, at constant assumed rates. Equity returns vary year to year and are not guaranteed.

05 Awareness

The most expensive word in investing is “later”.

A ₹10,000 monthly SIP started at 25 and continued until 60. Slide to see what happens if you wait a few years to begin. Same SIP, same assumed return; only the start date moves.

Where does your money belong? It depends on when you need it.

Match each rupee to its time horizon. The further away the goal, the more ups and downs it can absorb, and the more growth it can aim for.

  1. Savings & liquid funds

    Days to months

    Emergency fund, short-term parking

    Risk

  2. Debt & short-duration funds

    1 to 3 years

Near goals: a car, a course fee

    Risk

  3. Hybrid funds

    3 to 5 years

    Balanced growth with a cushion

    Risk

  4. Large-cap & index funds

    5+ years

    Core long-term wealth

    Risk

  5. Flexi & mid-cap funds

    7+ years

    Higher growth, bigger swings

    Risk

  6. Small-cap funds

    8 to 10+ years

    Highest volatility, small slice only

    Risk

Typical horizons for general education. Every scheme carries its own riskometer; read it, and the scheme documents, before investing.

09 How your money is held

Your money never passes through us.

This is the single most important thing to understand about any mutual fund distributor, including us.

  • You pay the fund house directly, from your own bank account, by mandate or UPI.
  • Units sit in a folio in your name, recorded by the registrar (CAMS or KFintech).
  • You get a Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) every month you transact, straight from the registrar or depository.
  • Redemptions are paid only into your registered bank account.

FAQ

Good questions, straight answers.

See all questions
How do I start investing with Chanakya Wealth?

Start with a short conversation about your goals, income and existing savings. We then complete your KYC if it is not already done, help you choose suitable fund categories, and set up your SIP or lumpsum. Payments go straight from your bank account to the fund house.

What is the minimum amount to start a SIP?

Many mutual fund schemes allow a SIP from ₹500 a month, though some schemes set a higher minimum. Starting small is perfectly fine. What matters more is starting early and raising the amount as your income grows, which we help you plan every year.

What is a SIP in mutual funds?

A SIP, or Systematic Investment Plan, invests a fixed amount in a mutual fund scheme every month through an auto-debit from your bank. It builds the habit of regular investing and spreads your purchases across market ups and downs, so you do not have to time the market.

Can I pause or stop my SIP?

Yes, you can stop a SIP at any time, and many fund houses also allow a temporary pause for a few months. Stopping a SIP does not sell your existing units; they stay invested in your folio. Exit load applies only if you redeem units within the scheme's exit load period.

What kind of firm is Chanakya Wealth Solutions?

Chanakya Wealth Solutions is an AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor based in Tirupati. We are not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser. We help you choose mutual fund categories, set up and track investments, and also distribute insurance and other products where we hold the required registration.

How is Chanakya Wealth paid?

We are paid commissions by mutual fund houses on the regular plans our clients invest in. These commissions are built into the scheme's expense ratio, not charged separately from your investment. The rates are listed on our Commission Disclosure page, and we are happy to explain them in person.
